You were my star,
you lit a fire inside, inspired far and wide,
filled me up and gave me purpose,
sang my dreams and opened up my eyes,
set me free to see his world around me.
I was enraptured,
would have followed you through fire,
wanted so badly for your light to shine on me a little brighter,
to touch you seemed impossible and then I saw you fall.
Fall fall down, losing ground,
the sky so far away now,
your light is burning out,
the words you spoke up there begin to fade, away
Now I can't hear a sound,
all the things you told me out the window,
cause you shine so bright the rules don't apply to you,
you've placed yourself so high you must be close to God but I am not allowed to hold you to his standards, what happened to right and wrong though
all I'm left with is this hole,
disappointment in my soul
my own fault for putting faith in princes who all return to the ground,
only put your trust in one who watches over you and all around
stars only shine in the dark, so their flaws are hidden by the night,
you're human just like me,
Now that your on the ground up-close I can just see,
you're human just like me
the insperation: Psalm 146:3-6 "Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.
Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, the maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them-the Lord, who remains faithful forever."
